The former Chase Manhattan Chief Executive was reported to have died in his sleep at the age of 101.
Rockefeller who died in his home in Pocantico Hills, New York, was confirmed dead on Monday morning.
The demise of the billionaire estimated to be worth about $3 billion was confirmed by the family’s spokesman Fraser P. Seitel who revealed that he died due to congestive heart failure.
He served as the Chase Manhattan head until his retirement in 1981 after 5-years of service.
