The Chicago Police department were made aware of the live broadcast and assault on the teenager by the victim’s mother who reported the incident to Superintendent Eddie Johnson.
The teenager’s mother further handed out photos of the alleged assault to the police superintendent which led to swift orders to investigate the alleged gang r^pe and an order requesting Facebook to take down the video.
Spokesman of the Chicago Police, Anthony Guglielmi revealed that the victim has since been located and reunited with her family.
Superintendent Johnson who was “visibly upset” by the offensive content of the video recalled the fact that there were “40 or so live viewers and no one thought to call authorities.”
She revealed that although the number of viewers were visible, the state police department will have to subpoena Facebook to get the locations of the active users and would need to “prove a nexus to criminal activity”.
